MRI scan struggles

In the last few months, I have seen a physio, GP and Osteopath for ongoing back problems. Both GP and Osteopath believe it is a slipped disc and agree I need an MRI scan. GP says the surgery aren't authorised to order an MRI. Osteopath says this is wrong and referred me for a private MRI as he says I need one ASAP. The price of the private MRI is way too much. How can I get an NHS MRI scan when both agree I need one? This has gone on for so long and I now don't know where to turn
