MrsK and GCA abd Pred Reduction

Posted , 10 users are following.

Somewhere on this site, and I just cannot find it I posted that I was going to take a drop from 3mg to 2.5mg (it was a long posting so I am not going to do it again).

Well, I finally took the drop a week past Saturday and boy did I go through it.

EileenH and MrsO reminded me I had not done the math - it was a 17% drop. Too much in one go so I found out the hardway.

However, by the Friday - back to normal (or what passes for normal) and the drop seems to have worked.

Next time - I am going to do ADT or Ragnar, as 0.5mg to 2mg looks a long way down to me. But I will still 'clear the decks' for the week following the drop.

Oh and I made the 75th Birthday lunch and had a great time.

EileenH or MrsO - I need the math done.

PS I won't lose this post (see title).

It sounds as though the steam inhalation is really helping - it's amazing how we can go back to these old fashioned remedies and find they're still the best. Hope you have a good night.

Add Friars Balsam to the steaming method. But make sure you use a basin that you do not want to use again.

We keep a basin just for use with the Balsam. It is old fashioned, but it does work and it also helps the nasal passages.

A saline nasal spray whilst good, can make your nose sore, whilst the balsam does not.

    Hello again

Hope you are feeling better today Beev

Old fashioned remedy ?? Not sure it is ! My brother in law ( Italian ) is Ear Nose and Throat Consultant in italy and they use inhalation a lot there he specalises in all the catarrghy things !! Nice ! but when we were staying with them and my husband does get suinus probs if he has a cold out comes all the machines for inhalation If I have a cold now I have a small steam cup in which I put menthol crystals and I feel much clearer after but you only need a tiny bit of them or you feel as if your head is going to leave your shoulders !!

So I think you are doing the right thing Beev Better out than in !!

    Best wishes

Did not mean 'the steam inhalation' was old fashioned, just the Friars Balsam.

When visiting a friend in hospital, they gace her a sort of plastic mask thing to use as a steam inhaler, it was very clever.

beev - the symptoms are pretty much what you describe. It can also be other things but sitting there and doing nothing won't answer the question.

And if he doesn't know what you want I think a simple response might be along the lines of: \"I would like you to take my presentation seriously and get off your backside and investigate properly - not half-heartedly. You are meant to be the gateway to healthcare - it appears to be double locked with a padlock. Don't dismiss me because I am a bit older than you. Remember your salary depends on me and people like me. If you don't want to do anything send me to someone who will. And then consider if you are in the right field of medicine. Do you not think you might find pathology more rewarding.\"

God help us all -

Haha - if only I dared!! I would love to say that to him....but I think he might throw me out of the room!!

Trouble is I dont know if he is sending me to the right specialist. I dont know if the gunk is coming from throat or lungs or somewhere in between!

Behind my nose is now congested - since a few days into the clarithromycin antibiotics. Can they make it worse??? It possibly supports the notion of post-nasal drip though, which the lady doc thought it probably was.

Did you sort you problems re possible GCA??
