Hi was wondering if anyone could help me. For 2 years now i have been having problems with my left leg going numb and tingerly. I went to my GP where she sent me to get a MRI scan done 45 mins under that thing was really hard .

Aftet that i got sent to an nero doctor to see if he could help me. He said it could be MS or a slip disc ( well i knew it wad not a slip disc). So he want to get a lumber puncher done. They never said anything about after getting that done.

Now for 2 years i have still not got anywhere with these test and the nero doctor id thinking about doing a bone marrow test to see if that will come back as anything.

I know deep down it is MS i have symptoms of MS like dropped foot, balance problems i cant seem to go out on my own.

Now before all this i was fit and healthy to now not able to do anything.

All im wanting is someone to talk to really.

Thanks for any help

Hi Jodie, I'm sorry that you're going through what a lot of people with MS tend to call limboland.

Many people, who end up being diagnosed with MS, as I was in 2004, have to suffer the situation that you're going through. Testing, negative results, Drs getting nowhere near a diagnosis, on and on. Now I don't know whether or not you have MS, but I do know that it can be a very tricky condition to pin down. We can have a relapse but then recover in such a way that we get false negative results from MRI's or lumbar punctures. Much of it can be about timing, mostly in earlier stages of MS.

I always suggest that anyone going through any type of ongoing health problems keep a record of what's happening to them. It's up to the individual, how much to record. Symptoms, worries, questions or anything else they might think relevant.

For whatever it might be worth, the symptoms you've described sound really familiar to me as a person with MS.

      Thanks wendy80842.

I am trying my hardest to not think about wat it could be, but sometimes it eats away at u.

I just feel sometime that doctor think its all in my head and sometimes i question myself sometimes to. At first i got deignos with nerve damage down my left side but for months and months it never got better. And then all of a soudden my left leg went all funny and over time has gone numb so i cant feel anything from the knee down and over months my balance has gone so now i am on crutches to help me walk.

I do keep a symptom diary cos not every day is the same just so wen i go to see my nero consultant can see wat is going on.

For 2 or more years has been long enough with out knowing wats going on with u so i hope i get some asnwers next we

Hi Jodie, sorry that I've only just read your post. It's terrible to deal with health unknowns, just for the record, I have MS.

I think that you may find that asking your GP about the results of the MRI and lumbar puncture tests, that you had, would probably be your best starting point. It might be an idea to tell your GP about how hard you're finding it, living with not knowing what's happening.

Keep some kind of record, of ongoing, symptoms, questions and concerns. Take a list of bullet points of what you want to talk to any medical that you see, too, it's so easy to forget to mention things that you later wish you'd said.

Do keep a line of communication open, with any people in your life, or online, it's OK to admit when we're struggling.

Hopefully it won't be MS, but if it is, it's not fatal and we humans are great at adapting, take care. If you have a post that's been missed, post another.
