MS Symptoms?

I wonder if anyone could help? Over the last year I have had a weak hand when gripping but nothing major. More recently I have pins and needles all over the body, wake up with numbness in my arms but I haven't slept on them. Hands ache and feel stiff. Today I have numbness and pins and needles in the upper arms and cheeks, they feel heavy like I have been lifting weights. Any thoughts? Thank you

It has been a long time since the beginning of my MS, but back then it was my left foot that was weak and not responsive to "commands" from my brain. I had pins and needles all over and I thought my feet were cold from left-over frostbite from camping. I tripped a few times, even though then I was way more physically-fit than now. 1999 was when I got my diagnosis.  Now, or 13 years after, I had to use a walker.

If you don’t mind me asking. But how long did it take for you to get a diagnoses and how did you get it?  I keep searching for a doctor that will listen to me and not just say it’s anxious depression. Thanks

Hi, Kenny it took a really long time, partly because early on my tests were lost.  Those tests were really annoying, too. The first tests I had were way before my diagnosis when I was very nervous because I was getting married.  They were called Evoked Potentials tests.  They were not explained to me.  I had no idea from them if I had MS.  Then they lost the test results!  Well, I had to get on with my life.  I got married and continued to ride a bicycle to work every day.  Then I had a baby.  I also walked every day for a period of one year to lose weight.  Then I started feeling weakness in my left foot and the pins and needles feelings again.  Then I went to one hospital`s neurological department to look at MS brochures and see a specialist Dr. Paul O`Connor in 1999.  I had several MRI`s lucky for me, no lumbar puncture.  Got my diagnosis in November 1999.

Thank you for the reply and I’m sorry for your diagnoses. I’m just trying to find a way to get someone to help me or at least listen. I’ve been labeled as anxious depression but I’ve been having crazy symptoms. It’s been hard to find someone that won’t just push antidepressants

It is very hard to get people to listen.  I am on an anti-depressant and I just try to keep it to low degree--just one a day. Depression is part of a lot of auto-immune diseases.

Hello, sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I have experienced all of those symptoms. Ask your Neurologist about Gabapentin (Neurontin is the brand name of the medicine). I have RRMS so I also take Aubagio 14 mg daily as a MS Therapy treatment. Also see if your doctor will refer you to a physical therapy for exercises for your hand.

I also do better when I do not eat white sugar and no dairy. I realized that what I eat really affects the amount of relapses I have. It is hard to manage stress but if you can try to get rest and reduce the amount of stress you have, that may help as well. I pray the Lord heals your body and gives you some relief soon.

Hi. Thanks for your response. The thing is I am not diagnosed with MS. To be honest I havent even been to see a doctor not sure if I am reading too much into my symptoms. Thats why I thought I'd ask on this site first. 😊
