Mucus in ear

One day I was blowing my nose and suddenly I felt like something went into my ear from the inside, there was this strange sound and feeling and I was thinking maybe its mucus that shot into my right ear. I stopped right there and didn't blow again. On the third day from then my ear started hurting a lot and I could not sleep the whole night. In the morning I went to the doctor and he said the eardrum is not looking so good and agreed that its mucus that got into my ear. He prescribed me medicine and I'm taking it regularly.

What I want to know is that will I ever be the same again? because I wanted to apply for the army this time now I can't. I hear fine enough but there is that strong beep sound in my ear(that we hear after a slap on the ear) and something moves around as I move my head also the level of hearing changes with its movement. In which direction should I keep my head?(problem is in the right ear btw). Where would this mucus go?in or out??
