Multiple duodenal ulcers and I

Hi all,

New here, just been reading the experiences and knowledge other people are sharing. so thought I would share my story so far (I'll keep it short)!

I had an endoscopy about 6 months ago which found multiple duodenal ulcers and eusophigitis. I get horrendous indegestion, not the usual burny feeling doctors seem to describe to me, but as if my whwhole esophagus is full of stomach contents, sitting right up to my throat. Even if I eat soft foods, it feels hard, pressing against the insides of my chest. The pain is just horrible and the contents often pushes right up into my mouth (disgusting I know!). The worst feeling is the twing, elastic band like snap in my chest where for a moment time seems to stop, like a punch from the inside. I don't know if this is my heart skipping a beat or spasms! It normally builds and builds the bang, eventually followed by hard stomach contents right up to my mouth! Do other get this? Also a strange butterfly feeling in the chest!?

Aside from the chest area, I have had problems with headaches, full ears and double vision (cover right eye I am fine). The mixture of these symptoms make me miserable!! It's frustrating as I am only 26, extremely fit (gym 4-5 times a week plus footy), don't drink, smoke and have a healthy diet (currently gluten and lactose free). Still no luck and this has been ongoing for years sad!

Doctors have been useless too! Basically tried to say on countless occasions that it is all in my head and 'symptomology' etc! Amazed considering this was after the endoscopy too! On 80mg pantoprazole, though doesn't help too much! Also awaiting 24 hour ph test, see what that brings up.

Anyone experienced similar to this?

I fell ill Oct 2012,had no idea at all what was going on,My throat was tight I had loads of gas in my chest and I kept going dizzy was put on omeprozole and waited for endoscopy.Found I had duodenal ulcer and hiatus hernia but after some weeks still not feeling better, had more tests only to find I had (AF),Atrial fibrilation so have had to have a pacemaker fit and an ablation done on my heart so I,m also on another forum for that,By being on that I,ve found out that many of those on that sight with heart problems also have problems with IBS,, ulcers,,gastric,,etc,They recon it,s something to do with the vagal nerve which connects the gut to the heart, and AF or simmilar symptoms probably gut too can be started by to much exercise.(they say athletes are almost certain to get AF in there lifetime). Not to worry any body but if you are still feeling bad like I was get the DR to give you an ECG if only to ease your mind

Thanks for the reply argzxoni! I have the gas too, always feel bloated, and the pain in the chest is the worst. I have had multiple ECG's, nothing seems to crop up aside from bradycardia. My heart rate is normally slower, around 45bpm and the ECG picked up 36bpm on one occasion. Though they always put this down to my fitness levels. I had an ultrasound on my heart when I was around 18. It picked up a murmur, but the cardiologist said at the time I had a very strong heart and it was just taking larger gulps of blood now and again (something about one of the chambers I recall).

Anyway, hope your on the mend now!, chest pains and flutters aren't half scary! This week has been terrible, eye problems have been bad, though the double vision only last for around a minute each time. Stomach feels raw and tight! My whole family suffer from IBS, though doctors very rarely give me any advice or explain what this could be aside from ' just indigestion and migraines'! I feel terrible!

It's frustrating as my lifestyle is all round healthy. My teeth have also been that badly worn by acid, I now need to see a specialist to save my front teeth! I don't even drink fizzy juice etc! Has anyone had indigestion related teeth wear before?

Hi Cesni sorry you,r not feeling to good,it could be you are producing to much acid especially when you are at the gym.I did find one exercise that helped my IBS infact it dissapeared alltogether eventually,Sit on the floor knees bent slightly off the floor, back straight and slowly leen back till you feel the tension in your lower stomach and hold for 20 secs repeat just a couple of times don,t over do it , do this every day after a week my IBS had gone may be coincidence but I,d had it for over a year,it came back 2 years later I did the exercise again and touch wood no prob now for the past 4 years,Hope you,r soon feeling better argzxoni
