Multiple Gallstones & Sludge

Hi.

Cutting a long story short, I've had recurrent pancreatitis the last 4 years. Inbetween attacks, just awful upper abdominal pain that I haven't really had any respite from. This past month having had an episode of severe pain more down my right flank, I have sought out a HPB specialist & hopefully I'm getting somewhere, but with new symptoms.

An EUS last week showed up multiple gallstones & debris (that so far have went undetected for 4 years despite numerous CT/MRCP/Ultrasounds), as well as inflammation in my pancreas, caused by what the Docs think was a rogue gallstone which passed.

Some progress at last, a cause for my recurrent pancreatitis, and am scheduled for an ERCP to open the bile duct to let any stones pass without causing bother.

Now to the new symptoms! For 4 days, & since having a Chinese meal, I have been experiencing a pain below my ribcage on the right side of my back, going up to my shoulder blade. Less often, the same pains on the left. Also, pain down my right flank. The most worrying new symptom is constant watery stools. They don't float, are normal colour, don't really smell, just watery. At first they came with yellow water but that's subsided now.

Has anyone experienced similiar with their gallbladder problems?

The yellow water is bile . I have this from time to time.

I'm on the waiting list for removal of my gallbladder.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along to explain

    it more to you.

Hi my gallstone problem was picked up due to dull ache pain in my lower right rib area. Unsure at time whether flank muscle pain or fatty liver .. Had GB removed two weeks ago as couldn't determine rib ache until temoval of GB. Rib/back pain still there hoping it will subside over time but will go back to docs if doesn't.

    Good luck

Sounds pretty typical of gallstone issues. Maybe an indication that your condition is worsening? I'd avoid any spiced food, even Chinese food. Avoid alcohol. Eat smaller meals and eat low fat for the time being. It doesn't make it go away but does reduce the severity, duration and frequency of attacks.

    Good luck

I was having loose stools before the surgery and for about a week or so after the surgery, they have since returned to normal, what mine were like and as odd as this converstation is, mine were watery, I sit sounded like someone turned the tap on at the faucet, no smell, just there. I was put on a high fibre diet immediatly, was to eat 6 small meals a day, I almost lost it, I eat like a bird LOL What it entails he said was breakfast have bran buds, I found in the store that bran flakes that come in a larger box contained the same amount of fibre, one bowl, I added sliced strawberries or banana's to it to take away the flavor as I don't care much for bran cereal.  then a second meal which is actually a snack, but I'd have a bran muffin, those are tasty with margerine or butter on them, I had 2, lunch time and meal 3, I had creamed soup and twice a week I'd have a grilled cheese sandwich. meal 4 or snack as it is, I'd find any type of cracker or something that contained Fibre and munch on that, meal 5 Supper time  I would find veggies rich in fibre and meats that gave me good fibre and proteins, last meal or snack I'd have popcorn, very little butter on it and a dash of cheese or salt, great for the whole family, so I could take my small bowl and just leave the rest in a serving bowl for the kids.  To drink, I drank nothing but water and I do mean nothing but.  My surgeon for my gallbladder issues put me on this diet and I still follow it, just added a few other items to the menu now that I'm back to normal in most capacities including my back door so to speak smile As for your pain you are experiencing in your back and down your arm, have your doctor give you a colored dopler of your heart.  Rule that out fast.  A friend of the family said that before he had his heart attack that was the pain he was experiencing, I take an asprin a day for heart theropy. not sure about your leg, could be a.....oh crap, going to spell this wrong.  Sciatic nerve propblem.  Either way, go see the good ole doc smile
