Hi Deadmeat,
So sorry to hear that you have been struggling for 6 months with mono or a mono type illness. I empathise having gone through mono as a result of EBV myself many years ago.
Just want to encourage you that with mono things do get better, after 6 months I was still struggling a lot with fatigue and painful / swollen glands, it did take me a few more months to start to see a big change, at about 10 months I really felt a change and started to feel much better, it took some time but I know thanks to God only was able to get through it and get better with time.
So hang in there, it can be very normal still to be feeling not at all good after 6 months and then go on and make a fully recovery. And my experience was that the first 6 months were BY FAR the worst and the intensity did lessen after that - just remember even if it's not right away that your body will fully recover from this thing with God's help.
Hoping so much that your glands settle down, I had one particular painful and swollen gland in my neck which bothered me throughout, but it did settle with time and it was one of the lingering symptoms that took a little longer to go but it did go. For mouth issues, herbs like oregano can be helpful - also another good one is the baking soda remedy - 1/2 teaspoon full of baking soda dissolved in half a glass of plain water taken twice per day on an empty stomach for 1 or 2 weeks at a time only (no longer as may not be safe to take longer term). That can be really good for fighting bacteria / viruses and I've found it helpful particularly with mouth / throat issues in the past, giving it a good gargle in the mouth before swallowing.
Hang in there - you WILL get through this and get better - and that's coming from me who was in a similarly low and tough position after 6 months and feeling discouraged somewhat.
