Multiple symptoms following a fever

I have a constant sinus infection that starts up anytime I get just a bit sick. Recently I had a high fever (102 f)  and my sinus infection became one of the worst I've had in years. During the fever, I would have constant dizzy spells and terrible hallucinations which made it hard for me to sleep at all. It did surprise me quite a bit at the fact that I had such terrible hallucinations since I'm not usually one to have them, even during some of my worst fevers. I figured it would eventually just go away once my fever went down and that things would go back to normal. But it has been nearly a week now and I'm still suffering from these hallucinations, dizzy spells, and feeling as if I'm floating (like I'm not in my body). My mother suggested that I go and get a scan done to make sure my sinus infection hadn't caused any major damage since she had heard it was possible. I really would like to go and get this checked, but after a bad experience I had at the hospital last time I went, I'm just trying to convince myself that it'll go away. School starts again in a few days and I know for certain I'm in no condition to go and be able to focus. So my biggest concern is simply "what if it doesn't go away in the next few days" and "is it bad enough that I should get it checked". Any advice could really be helpful at this point. Thank you

    Hi K.V.M.,

I'm so sorry to hear you've been suffering from this! I have mild hallucinations when I'm having a severe sinus headache or bad fever. I think part of it is when you're so off-balanced and feeling "out of it" it's easy for your mind to start racing. I suffer from anxiety and it's quite often triggered when my sinuses are at their worst.

I'd still recommend going to get a CT scan. CT scans are quick and painless and would give a specialist a great look to make sure nothing else was going on. Especially with school starting soon, you'll want to do everything you can to start on your best foot. I made the mistake of trying to ride out sickness and it ended up getting far worst to a point I could not go to class for a while.

In the meantime, I'd recommend looking into a neti pot. They're awkward to use at first, but can be your best friend during sinus troubles. It can help rinse out congestion and any possible infection.

Hope this helps and you start feeling better soon!

      Hello,

I took your advice and went on with the CT scan. I just had a checkup today to go over my scans and to see if the medication they had put me on previously had worked. They had found that because of how long it went unchecked, my airways are almost completely blocked and cysts have begun to form, So I was given a choice to perform surgery or try another antibiotic to see if it would help. I went with the antibiotics for now and if it doesn't work I will get the surgery done. As for the hallucinations, we aren't sure what they were from, but I believe that it may have been simply from the fever and my anxiety as well.

    Hi K.V.M

I suffered from severe hayfever, rhinitis and sinusitis for 65 years, before discovering a miracle cure for allergy complaints.

I was treated by many specialists and had two nose operations, tried every treatment available for the treatment of these problems, but the problem persisted. I was resigned to a lifetime of perpetual suffering, with only partial relief.

Then I discovered Evening Primrose Oil, and found an absolute cure. This treatment works in about 4 hours, so there is no delayed action.

I found that one 1000mg capsule daily was quite effective, as although it takes 4 hours to work it is effective for a further 24 hours.

Evening Primrose Oil is not a drug, so it has no side affects and does not affect mental ability. It desensitises the nervous system, so that the body does not react to normal irritants that cause the problem.

If you are allergic this could be the answer to your problems. Try taking one 1000mg capsule daily for two weeks, and note the results. It may even be a miracle cure for you.

    Kind regards, Ray.
