mum has lost her voice

My 87 year old mother recently had a minor stroke which she soon recovered from. For various reasons she has moved to a sheltered housing complex.

Over the last 2 weeks she has lost her voice, she knows what to say but can't say it. It is heart breaking to see her like this. The GP says its stress. Any thoughts anyone?.

Gosh Ian I am so sorry to hear about your Mother.

Ive never heard of anyone losing there voice though.

What has the Doctor said other than its due to stress?

Surely they have a plan B?

Hi Angela. No plan B at the mo. I was just wondering if anybody else had experience of it. She suffered the stroke and recovered quickly, her speech was fine but over the past 3 weeks her voice has now completely gone. Its so frustrating for her. Anyone please?.

Could she be experiencing damage to areas of the brain in the left hemisphere which are chiefly responsible for language production?

The Stroke initially slurred her speech but after a few days it came back. Now she is speaking with intent but only slight sounds are coming out. Her brain is producing the words but not her voice
