Muscle atrophy and recovery time...

Posted , 3 users are following.

So, I have been NWB for 4 weeks + 1 day (had the boot from day 5). I was cleared for WBAT in the boot today. I decided to measure my calves because the injured one sure looks scrawny compared to the other one.

Left calf - 37.5 cm

Right calf - 34.5 cm

I have been iWalking regularly, so there is no atrophy above the knee. I am curious to see how long it takes to get back to normal.

Wondering what others have experienced with regaining their muscle tone.

That will probably depend on how much you walk and exercise. My surgery was in January and one calf is still a little smaller than the other. I was NWB for 6 weeks and partial for another 4. I don't really notice a difference in actual strength, just size. Good luck with the rest of your recovery.

Mine was very noticible at first one looked like a birds leg and one looked like a horses leg.

And 6 month on there's very little difference at all.
