Muscle issues-worrying it’s MS

Hi ladies,
I've been experiencing perimenopause and its multitude of symptoms for about five years now- I am 51 and haven't had a period in 164 days. Lately, I've had these strange sensations in my muscles. They feel weak and just weird- like i have tight rubber bands wrapped around them. But also like they're buzzing with electricity. Happens all over my body- arms, legs, face, head, neck, chest, stomach. A few years ago, when peri first started showing up, my doc thought my symptoms might be MS. She sent me to a specialist, who did some assessments and determined it wasn't. But I still find myself freaking out about it, when these weird muscle sensations appear. Anybody have this issue? Sure would help to hear from you, if you do. 😃

Hello Cindy, Im 57 and post meno by around five years. Most of my issues are musculoskeletal. Like you I find it pretty freaky and it sets off my health anxiety. My areas of concern are mainly my legs, but i get the sensation in my arms and hands too.
I also get numbness too especially in my toes. I had a telephone appointment with a Neurologist a few weeks ago, and following me describing my symptoms he said it was radiculopathy (trapped nerves) I was advised to take up yoga, to do spinal stretches and wait for it.....keep my mind active!! He obviously picked up on my anxiety!!!! jeez with all this rubbish going on who wouldnt be anxious. Anyway I have decided to go back to the menopause clinic and try a different HRT. I was previously on HRT but had a few problems, and since stopping my symptoms have got much worse. i know muscle and tendon issues are ome of the menopause symptoms and really appreciate how awful it is....Are you taking HRT Cindy?

My doc put me on a low dose of estrogen and progesterone. Did nothing for me. Now am just on progesterone. It's clearly not helping. But you've inspired me to make an appointment with her to see if we can explore other options. She doesn't want me to suffer, but I sometimes don't bother to check in with her because I adopt an attitude of hopelessness. Thanks for the suggestion!

hi cindy i am also same age and about 12 months ago i also started experiencing similar issues as you have described. i spoke to my GP who said try HRT but after 3 months nearly on it it was not helping. i was getting sick of popping pain killers etc so i decided to read up on food that may help with chronic pain. i now try to have oily fish 3 times a week and i have also started drinking Turmeric Tea i have 3 of these a day and touch wood has made all the pain more manageable and giving me more freedom throughout the day. the hot flushes at night have increased slightly but worth it because i feel able to move and not suffer in excrutiating pain. might be worth a try
