Hi Rebecca. I get the sweating too but at night while I’m sleeping.  Wake up & im wet behind my neck & hair.  My niece who’s on ven also has had the leg jerking at night when she’s sleeping too.  Both of us are only on 75 mgs.  My other niece who’s on 150 mgs says she has excessive night sweats too.

Hi Barbara, i didn't have to much sweating on 75mg, its only since they have gone up, its strange how this ven makes people sweat excessiveley, i am going to see my doc, as its so horrible.

Hi Neurita, yes i always feel hot, and the hot weather we have had recentley also doesn't help, its like a double wammy, it makes me irritable, and its hard to cope with the excessive sweating.

Hi Rebecca,  Sorry to hear about your situation.  I have been on 225mg of Venlafaxine for a few years and have never had any problems such as yours or any full stop.  I think you should ask for a review as if depression isn't bad enough to deal with the drugs you take to help shouldn't be causing more problems.  Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi Jennifer, yes i think i will get a review, as they also don't seem to be helping my depression either. Thankyou.

I wanted to reach out to you because these same exact things happened to me when i actually was at the tail end of a failed taper (original dose 37.5mg 5 years) and doctors were giving me other prescription meds as a band-aid to resolve initial parasthesia and insomnia issues.

I'm not sure how long you've been on this dose or if you are tapering or taking other meds as well.

    Please provide detail.

Hi Cheryl i started out on 75mg no problem, it pooped out so was but on escitolapram 10mg at first, then upped to 15mg, had unbearable sweats on that at 15mg, so swang from 10 to 15 for about two years, prior to that as i mentioned was on 75mg of ven for two years but it stopped working, so after the escitolapram, back on the ven 75 then 150 now 187.5 have been on this for about two years , and been on 187.5 for about 5months it still doesnt help my mood, and i sweat so much, and get random body jerks, and such a dry mouth, doctor said i can taper down slowly and try something else, hope to hear from you soon x

It seems like effexor isn't for you

And i never believe more is better. Your cns is getting a little more than its probably used to at the moment and while i say stick it out and hope it resolves I'm also very weary of anyone staying on something that results involuntary muscle jerks and spams. I've been on other reliable forums in the past and chatted with many on these particular symptoms and i they definitely shouldn't be ignored. Taper down and do so wisely. Tapering too fast can also make your cns whacked out. Also, really address the issues that cause your depression or anxiety as that results in the need for these types of meds to begin with.
