ive lost weight during peri menopause & most definately muscle mass also. its so difficult to exercise though when you feel constantly tired! i think this is why alot of older women do weight training x

Strength training is very important in your 40's and beyond. I'm stronger than I've ever been. I initially started the gym 2 yrs ago because my anxiety was through the roof.I could barely curl 10lbs, now I can do 40lbs.I still have alot of perimenopause symptoms but I go anyway because for the 1 and a half hrs that I'm there I forget all my problems. It really helps me mentally and physically. I recommend it to anyone. Just start out small, there are alot of older people at my gym, like in their seventies lifting .🙂

i agree beth but its not always possible for everyone, we need to do what we can, me for example i used to lift but now even when i walk i itch, i now have histamine problems, im really underweight too but push to walk miles, my whole body is sore, just had blood results and as i thought my estrogen in really high as i thought it would be in early peri, thank god i didnt take the hrt, estrogen heightens histamine x

I'm sorry you are having so many issues. I work out because it helps me mentally. I have aches and pains, my lower back hurts, sometimes my knee hurts, my rt elbow hurts when I lift, I try not to let this transition stop me from doing things I love. I'm stubborn and refuse to let anything stop me. My biggest peri issues seem to be stomach related, lots of gas, and reflux.I think the excess gas causes my palps. I'm now starting to eat something small every 2 hrs. Hopefully it will help. But it probably won't. I guess this is just something we all have to go through to get out. I miss my 20's and early 30's.
