Dr suggested I cut 50%. No change. After stopping 5 days headache less but neck/shoulder pain persists.
Eating oats and food that help lower cholesterol. As a retired health care professional I know diet and exercise are the two most important things we can do. Additionally I take garlic for b/p, Co Q10 for heart and milk thistle for liver. Recently started chia seeds daily with oatmeal and walnuts.

Hi John04500,
My doc has prescribed Atorvastatin which I havnt commenced yet. I am very wary of the side effects but also want to avoid a heart or stroke.
As a retired RGN I eat a healthy diet but I think it's a familial thing. I hope the reduction helps

I stopped with the Atorvastatin and normal service has almost been returned and I am so glad that I don't feel like I an dying any more. I need to look for natural alternatives as I will never be persuaded to take statins again.
I do however remain on the Clopidogrel and side effects are manifesting (I think they were hidden by the awful side effects of the statins). I feel dizzy, occasional blurred vision, stiff and painful neck. This is always a worry for me when I have aches and pains around the area of my SAH which was in 2001, even though I am told everything is stable, there is always that constant worry. I have been reading that people who have had stents put in after a haemorrhage do so to stop blood clotting in the stent. I am now concerned because there is some debate with my local hospital where they insist I have a stent, but the I know that I had the operation done at a specialist hospital and my aneurysm was coiled to seal it. I was told to avoid anything that thinned the blood, but now after my minor stroke last September I am on blood thinners.
