Muscle Spasm in my side

Posted , 3 users are following.

I am not sure if this is AS related, but I suspect it is. I did some housework at the WE and now I am in agony if I move, with a severe spasm on my right side of my back about 1/2 way up.

It is also uncomfortable in the same place if I breathe deeply but that isn't a spasm.

AS?

    Hi Ridley,

?  Often times the muscles of the back or side are impacted by an inflammatory process close to them. So an inflammation in the spine or ribcage will cause the muscles around them to get inflammed and they often react with muscle spasms.  I've had them frequently.  In fact the most severe pain Ive just about ever felt was from muscle spasms in the back.  They told me that kidney stones are the gold standard of pain.  They said the stones give a male a good idea of what it feels like to give birth.  I've had the muscle spasms right around the area of the kidney and I've had kidney stone pain in the same area.  No contest.  The muscle spasms dwarfed the kidney stone pain.  Sent me to the emergency room.  The muscle spasms can be majorly ugly..

      Ridley,

?  Just to be clear, what I'm saying is that AS will cause the inflammation and the inflammation causes the spasming.  So technically yes, the AS is causing the spasming.

Thanks, I think my AS has moved to my ribs and aggravating it by doing HW then sleeping on it just makes it all the worse.

Did you mean the pain is Huuuuge or very bigly Huuge. Covefe?
