Muscle tightness in one leg

hi all,

I'm new here and wondered if someone could help please?

I have on going stress and anxiety that I normally manage ok without medication bar the odd panic attack. ive had what I would class as some if the more classic anxiety symptoms before (like palpatations, hot flushes, muscle twitches, pins and needles etc) but for the past couple of weeks ive had a really stiff / tight right leg and foot and im finding it really annoying.

i know anxiety can cause muscle tension but i just wanted to see if anyone had had this type of symptom in a leg or legs and feet before and if it can be linked to anxiety?

thank you

tightness in the leg and foot could possibly be related to stress and anxiety. Not everybody will get that but some people do. Everybody is different. I would get a tingling sensation down my leg and foot. with muscle twitching.

Also, overuse can cause the tight feeling, and I’m sure there are other non-serious reasons why that could happen. if it keeps happening we could just ask your doctor what he or she thinks. Have you had a complete physical check up recently? Everybody should have one at least once a year. hopefully it will just subside by itself. But I do know that anxiety and stress can cause all sorts of symptoms and sensations. See if you can bring down the anxiety by relaxing your mind as much as possible and see if that helps. Have a good evening.

      hi, thanks for your reply.

i went to my GP and was reffered to a neurologist who did a standard neurological exam and said all seemed fine. he was using this to rule out other things rather than get to the exact cause though but he mentioned it could be a "somatic Symptom".

im getting pins and needles in my hands when i wake up too which isnt normsl for me but its the leg tension that most unusual and i cant seem to shift it.
