Muscle twitches and health anxiety

Hi lovely people

I deal with health anxiety during menopause which is quite a struggle due to loads of physical symptoms...

The latest is muscle twitches which is sending my anxiety through the roof! I know that it makes it worse to overthink but I can't help it cause it is so annoying...

The twitches are mainly in the wrist and make my middle finger twitch as well.

But because I worry so much I also get twitches in other muscles in my body now.

Anyone else experiencing this? I really need some comforting...

Its completely normal ! NO worries. i had twitching all over, even my eyelids, arms, legs, butt, etc. Due to anxiety.

First got them in my 20s along with many other symptoms of stress. was scary but all tests were normal.

im in my fifties now, and i may get one or two here or there when anxious but i ignore them .

if u get some help for the anxiety, they will lessen a lot. keep your brain quiet, listen to meditations for anxiety on you tube, relax, take care of yourself!!

    YOU WILL BE OK ❤

Yes. I'm a 46 year old Male and 2 .5 years ago I had a Spontaneous Coronary Dissection while on vacation in Vegas. After I got home I had crippling panic attacks and dealt with Anxiety for the 1st time ever in my life. Of course, my Anxiety eventually manifested itself as Health Anxiety. I thought I had it all, ALS, Pancreatic Cancer, Heart Attacks every other day, MULTIPLE trips to the ER, etc. I still have anxiety in certain situations but now I pretty know my triggers and try not to let myself get in those situations. I havent had a full blown panic attack in a bbn out 1.5 years. Short story long, you can definately learn to manage your anxiety and YES, when I was at my worst, I had twitches. I would sit for hours and watch my body twitch and measure my calves, arms, etc with a tape measure. It was exhausting! I finally decided to take back control of my life and slowly but surely I did. God Bless.

Started 2 years ago for me. I Still have them daily but they don't bother me like they use to. Mine started when i thought i had MS. Anxiety is horrible!

Same here. I had body wide twitches (primarily in legs). In the worst of it, they twitched so much at night I would wake up feeling like I ran a marathon and my legs would be sore all day. That was 6 months ago. I still have twitches throughout the day and get sensitive reflexes when I'm not expecting it. My anxiety is mostly under control, but symptoms can persist after your anxiety has went away. remember that or it will cause more anxiety when they appear out of nowhere.

    God Bless.

      TROLEPUS71,

HELLO AND HOPE YOU ARE GETTING ALONG A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN BEFORE? anxiety feeds on itself like a pig at a full trough. it amazes me even when i know im dealing with the anxiety and know thats that just what it is it still scares the heck out of me. this might help you out have you looked into taking some low dose magnesium tablets daily? OF COURSE THERE IS PRESCRIPTION DRUGS BUT THEY COME WITH MANY SIDE AFFECTS AND ADDICTIONS.

i suggest looking into the Magnesium anxiety treatment forum here on the PATIENT porthole .

just my two cents and it has helped me calm down some. Nothing is fool-proof though. BUT IT MIGHT HELP WITH THOSE OVERWORKED MUSCLES? magnesium is good for the bodys muscles and helps fight that evil thing known as Anxiety.

GOOD LUCK AND KNOW THAT YOU're not alone.

I've had body-wide muscle twitching for about 2-3 yrs now. It started in my thumb, middle finger and ring finger. I also had severe dizziness or balance issues along with about every anxiety symptom you could think of. I went to see my doctor in a panic fearing I have ALS due to the widespread twitching. I still worry about it to this day, but have lost no weight or strength at all. When i squat down both of the outside of my quads twitch...looks like worms crawling under the skin. I've had this for 2+ yrs now. Incidentally, I've suffered from GAD for much of my life. Anyway, good luck. Let me know of other questions you may have.

HI Italia06 NO NEED to worry about ALS. ive had muscle twitching for over 30 yrs now, on and off.

if u had ALS, you wouldnt be here by now.its all from anxiety. twitching in that disease IS A LATER stage symptom., not early. my twitches began in my 20s, now in my fifties and doing well besides the anxiety.

just work on your anxiety and try to relax your mind. When I do that the twitches settle down.
