Muscle twitching

Hi I've been experiencing muscle twitching all over my body which come mainly at rest when I'm moving around i don't really notice these twitches. It can feel like there electric running through my body. I have a had a few health worries that have turned out to be ok but could feeling worried really cause all these muscle twitches. Doctor tried to refer me to a neurologist but that did get rejected by neurology. So I'm basically left with no reason for why these twitches are happening. Does this happen to any one else?

yes when you have health anxiety, muscle twitching can be very common. I’ve had anxiety for over 30 years now and I’ve had muscle twitching on and off for a very long time. It’s just one of the reactions that take place in the body during stress and anxiety. It’s not harmful just can be annoying at times. It’s called benign fasciculation. What I’ve learned is that the more you bring down your stress and anxiety, the less you will have them. The more you worry the more you’ll have them. It’s as simple as that. Just like the more you worry the more you all have other anxiety sensations. I rarely get them anymore but years ago my neurologist told me it’s nothing to worry about., Because anxiety can produce those. I hope this helps a little bit! Work on managing the anxiety and get a counselor if you have nobody to talk to. Have a good day

oh good I’m glad you feel a little more reassured. Even if you get some every now and then and you feel relaxed, it’s no problem at all. Sometimes they just come and go. When I ignore them they just subside. ❤

Thanks its hard not to worry about ALS etc. Is muscle cramping also common with anxiety? thank you for helping me feel more relaxed about everything ❤

so the twitching is not related to ALS. i confirmed that with a top rated neurologist. he said ALS is not a sensorary illness so you wouldnt have sensations like twitching, tingling, cramping, etc i was also concerned about ALS back when all the sensations began but im no longer concerned. the cramping could possibly be related to stress and anxiety and theres other things thst can cause that like level of magnesium, calcium, etc that is off a little. thats a quick fix by your doctor ordering what you need . dehydration can cause cramping too.

ahh ok I didnt realise that so thanks for the info. For some reason I tend to notice every pain, ache, twitch, tingle that I probably wouldn't of this time last year. I did notice the odd twitch last summer but nothing to much. Then around October/November time I had missed heart beats and had my heart checked which was fine, then the muscle twitching really went up a gear and now Im aware of everything ❤

sounds like you’re having anxiety sensations. I had skipped beats a lot and they can also be associated with anxiety. doctors don’t usually get concerned about the skipped beats unless there’s other signs of an issue.
the most important thing I learned over the years is that our bodies are going to put out little sensations here or there but that doesn’t mean it’s anything serious. If we paid attention and worried about every little feeling that we get we would drive ourselves crazy and have a miserable life. I had to learn that in order to find some peace and start enjoying my life.
So I would definitely recommend that you don’t overthink everything that’s going on. When you do that, you are telling your brain that something is wrong even if nothing is wrong at all. But your brain still thinks there is something wrong so you’re going to get more sensations that way which is what you don’t want! The adrenaline gets released and it can make the heartbeat faster, skipped beats, etc. anxiety and overthinking can cause all sorts of neurological sensations that people freak out about but are not harmful. For me it wasn’t worth going through all of that.
So I get my yearly physical and when everything is OK with that then I go and live my life and dont fret about every little sensation. I hope you’re able to do that because it’s such a relief not worrying constantly.
the only thing that worry does is it gets you nowhere yet you feel miserable. Take care!
