Muscle twitching all over and sore hamstring and glutes. Is it ALS? What can I do to deal with it?

I am a 27 year old man. For the past two weeks I have been experiencing muscle twitching all over the body (arms, legs, chest, butt, hands). Plus I have sore hamstring and glutes even though I didn't work out much and have worked out much more in the past. My strength in the rest of the body seems almost the same but feels like it is degrading. My blood work is all normal. I was referred to a neurologist but I cannot get an appointment there until end of August, which is more than 2 months away from now. I am worried it is ALS, in fact I am almost certain of it. Any suggestions on how to proceed? How do I deal with what I am facing? I have difficulties sleeping because of the worries and I am also worried about involving other people especially my girlfriend and parents.

ALS at your age would be highly unlikely, it could be benign fasciculation syndrome (BFS). Search FB for a BFS group, thousands with your same symptoms and clean EMG/clinical exams by neurologists. Were you sick at all (virus or other infection) within a month or so prior to onset or did you have a vaccine? A lot of people were sick or had a vaccine prior to onset and the symptoms are likely a result of a misdirected immune response, ie some sort of post-viral phenomenon. Hang in there, everything will be fine 😃 (2 years into twitching myself, although most of my symptoms were more sensory in nature (numbness, tingling, vibrations, etc.).

I am 39 and I started experiencing the same thing in early April. Started with twitching in my left temple and has spread all over my body. After a few weeks I started experiencing burning sensations as well. I have also experienced muscle stiffness and some other symptoms. I too am worried about ALS, but I am hoping it could be benign. I have an appointment with a neurologist in a couple of weeks. Trying not to overthink it but it is hard when you live with the symptoms every day. Hang in there.
