    Hi Shelby,

I am 6 months post THR and i am completely pain free and walk normally again.

It takes time to heal but you will get there. I thought the recovery would be quicker, but it depends on how much you do. I was out and walking 6 weeks post op.

I was able to sleep on my side at 10 weeks and it was bliss. Its very frustrating when upu cant get comfortable at night because you have to sleep on your back.

Just give it time and im sure you will get stronger every day.

Did you have leg length discrepancy?

Hi Mike,  I had my left hip replaced back on Dec. 5 2014, it was longer than my right hip before surgery, then after surgery it was way longer about 1 1/4" longer but this was all kind of expected as the surgen told me this was going to happen, both my hips were to be replaced, and then March 9 (3 months later) had my right hip done and it all worked out ok for length. This may be why my muscles on my right thigh are so tight and stiff, hope it will pass soon. Im 56 and my hips were bad news for years, hip diplsia at a young age.

Hi,  I had my hip done on 5th December 2014 too.  I am fine no aches or pains now unless I try walking uphill too much, then my thigh muscles ache afterwards.  Your muscles will feel better soon, exercise helps but also makes you ache sometimes if you do that little bit too much or try too hard at first.  Keep going, we are all different.  You will eventually get there.

Its only 24 days post op so you have some way to go before all pain discomfort disappears. Stick with it and keep exercising and walking and it will improve. Good luck

I'm four and a half weeks since revision and it really is two steps forward, one step back. Tuesday was good and the physiotherapist was so encouraging (doing his job well), yesterday I walked into town and back.

Today is pants....  hurting, stiff, miserable, worried, shooting pains down my leg...  will I be like this for ever?  Thank goodness a friend is coming to take me to the seaside in a few hours.

Good to share.  Best wishes to you all  x Sally

Hi Sally. Three weeks after my op I walked my dog for the first time and never gave my hip a thought until I arrived home and realised I had not had any pain at all !! Howver the next day iot came back to bite me (not the dog) and I had a painful few days which basically meant I had overdone things but you learn what you are and what your not capable of. Now 16 weeks and no hip pain at all. I am off to the seaside (IOW) on saturday for four days as it is my mothers 90th. Enjoy yourself

Hi Trevor , you said no pain at all , does that mean no muscle pain either?

No pain full stop. My back is tight but that is long standing

Birthday will consist of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren other friends and relatives and should be a wonderful occasion. Dancing is not on the menu as like most men, my legs ceased to listen to my brain after 40 !!!
