My 14 year old has had a rush on his leg for about 5-6 weeks. No symptoms, just redness in an oval shape, about 2 centimetres wide. Can this be a ring worm ?

Going by your reply I assume you live in the USA. In UK you have to book an appointment with the GP (local general practitioner, not necessarily specialised in a particular area), they are usually fully booked and you get an appointment in few weeks' time. So, it doesn't hurt to ask online for an extra bit of advice, at the end of the day, that's why these forums exist.
Do you answer to everyone "go to the doctors, duh" lol
