My anal fissure experience

Okay, so i'm not a writer, but when i had an anal fissue the blogs etc i found online really helped me, so i'm just trying to do the same in an effort to help someone else.
So, maybe like me, you thought you had piles at first? the itchiness, going to the toilet was uncomfortable, a odd bit of blood but nothing major. I went to the pharamacy, got some germolene and applied it for a couple of days and it seemed to clear up, however i passed what was a stubborn stool and the toilet looked like i'd necked a chicken in it. So i went to my GP.
Now, i know a lot of people, especially women can be worried about letting a doctor seeing those kind of areas, but please trust me when i say your doctor does not care.
My doctor gave me a perscription for Rectogesic (Let the fun begin) he said nothing to me about side effect dispite having a history of migranes. Now i'm not one for reading the side effects on the leaflet, sometimes they put you off using it, maybe a little foolish of me. So i applied it as directed on the packet, it probably didn't help that my fissure had just bleed. It must have taken the time for my to walk down a flight of stairs and i felt like a needed to vomit, i could feel my pulse in my legs, fingers, lips and ears, and then the headache started, i've had migranes since i was 15ish and i'm now 24 and i get them on a weekly basis, this was beyond a migrane, i've never felt anything like it. The sickness and pulsating left after a couple of hours, but the headache persisted for over 48 hours. Now this is probably a worse case scenario because i've read Rectogesic works wonders for some people, this is just my experience.
Needless to say i didn't use Rectogesic again, i called the GP and asked for something else, but i decided not to use the perscription and reading online advised the side effects were pretty similar.
I've read of people advising of hot baths, unfortunatley i only have a walk in shower so i had to find another alternative. My trick to this was vaseline, my fissure was on the outter area so probably explains why it worked so well for me, I applied vaseline everytime i needed to pass a stool and it made going so much easier, and for anyone that watches sports mainly rugby you will know when players get cuts, vaseline gets plastered all over them to stop the bleeding (you can see where my logic came from). Once i had been i would run the tap to hot, wet some tissue and clean myself.
It's probably important to notice i did change my diet for a while, not dramatically, i just ate softer foods, soups, weetabix etc avioded bread, just to make going a little easier.
It's been almost 8 weeks now, my diet is now normal again, i only use vaseline if i feel my stool is going to be harder than usual and i have no bleeding or pain when i go.
So, i hope you find this useful & best of luck with your fissure.

This sounds absolutely terrible, I cannot imagine the shock you must have experienced after using this stuff the first time. You are already in pain with anal fissure, I know because I had one last year.
I went along to the GP explained what I felt, he examined me, made his diagnosis and then he prescribed ANOHEAL it was easy to apply with a long nose that came in the box and it did not hurt a bit. If this happens again ask the doctor for ANOHEAL it heals things very fast. I no it is expensive but you can always keep the tube in a refrigerator and use it again if you have further problems.
best regards

After one bad experience with a migraine I stopped using them and recently went for the botox treatment. A month later and I can't say it's helped in the slightest. I will certainly be trying your vasaline technique!
