Hi All
I had an ankle operation last Feb. I have my fibula fixed by plate and 6 screws. Im on 6 months now after the operation and 4 months after removing my cast. I wasnt able to have therapy and boot for walking spport because my doctor said that its okay not to have that because Im young I just need to walk most of the time.
Now I was able to walk at least 80% of my mobility but everytime I wear high cut shoes like chuck taylor my ankle become small in shoes area an hour after I remove the shoes it become normal.
Is it normal?

Interesting. I've been too chicken to wear high heel shoes and I'm 6 months out too. Good for you for being brave! I did see my original surgeon last week and I did mention my healed ankle looks bigger than the other, and that I had heard from several people online that this would always be the case. He said that is true. The subject got changed before I could ask him why. It is only something I would notice, so I'm not concerned about it, but it is interesting yours gets smaller when in high heels.

That's just like wearing a compression sock I think and it sounds normal. I read in several places online that it is good to get out of high tops and boots at some point though, so your ankle can get strong on it's own, and fire the tendons, ligaments and muscles all back up. It hurts a bit to get it stronger, so don't worry if it hurts a bit to get out of supportive shoes. Given that, everyone know what is best for their own injuries though.
