hi guys. my baby is 3 weeks old tomorrow and the night before last he fell onto the ground in my bedroom. he cried right away and then I picked him up and he was OK. I was changing him at the time. I took him to the doctor and checked him over. he was fine. no bumps bruises and his soft spot is ok. he just said what to look out for. which makes me paranoid. I feel like a terrible mother and on top of my anxiety I now can't stop crying and worrying about my little baby. I can't believe it happened. It happened at 1 o clock the night before last. has anyone had this happen. I feel awful. I feel.like such a bad mum 😭. I'm do scared I've hurt him. his so small snd only newborn. would something have happened by now

if the doctor checked your baby and said he was fine then you can relax. Of course watch out for those signs or symptoms that he mentioned but that’s something he has to tell you. babies are very flexible and their bones are still a little soft so he should be fine. As long as he’s eating and drinking well and seems content you can relax.

just be careful where you lay him., And keep him away from blankets and pillows so he’s able to breathe well.

you might feel more relaxed if you put him in an approved baby bassinet so that he cant fall .

think of this as a learning experience. You’re not a bad mother.babies move quickly so we have to watch them closely.

see if you can pick up a book on newborn care. Lots of good information!

    Hi Rachel,

I know you feel guilty about this, but please know that this accident has happened to many people. The most important thing is that you took your little one to the doctor and that everything is okay with him.

Caring for a newborn takes a lot out of a mother, so don't blame yourself for accidents.

Of course, you need to do everything you can to make sure it doesn't happen again, such as checking that the crib, changing table, and other structures the baby uses are safe.

    He'll be fine!
