My BV battle for 2 years and the CURE!

So I turned 39 and all of a sudden couldn’t get rid of my BV. It was CONStANt! I spent so much money going to the dr, on labs and medicines. They told me all the normal things to do, no laundry detergent, no soaps, probiotics, cut out sugar. I tried everything for months. No better. I went to 3 drs and asked if I husband needed to be treated, they all said no. Finally found one that treated him, and for the first time in 9 months, I went a whole month without an infection. I was still staying away from all the things they told me to. Then I had dessert at thanksgiving. Got an infection. Went away, had dessert at Christmas, got an infection again. So sugar was definitely the trigger! Now, I ask my dr why all of a sudden my body is doing this. She says she doesn’t know, but I just have to treat sugar like it’s an allergy. So I do. It sucks. I love sugar. And it’s everywhere! After 7 months is this I go back in. I ask for labs to be drawn bc it just doesn’t make sense that something hasn’t caused this. She draws blood and checks everything, hormones, Vitamins/minerals, blood counts. Turns out my my Vit D is low. She doesn’t think this is related to my BV. But I read up on it. Find out Vit D deficiency can cause sugar intolerance. So after taking Vit D 10,000 a day for 2 months, I have been eating sugar and have not had any infections at all!!!!! Totally back to normal!!!!!! It’s unbelievable that they haven’t figured out to see if something else is wrong. These drs are only looking at how the vagina works, not the body as a whole! It’s so important to have all your labs checked if you are having any chronic issue! I hope this helps someone. I thought my life was pretty much over bc if the BV. I had to get on anti depressants. Life was miserable! And all it took to fix it was $30 worth of vitamins.

Are you still taking the vitamin D? If you stop will it come back? Let me know the outcome if you decide to stop.

I am still taking it. I’m sure I am deficient again it could. I will have my labs drawn again by my dr and decrease the dose as necessary

I've commented on this before to no avail, but have you read the side effects of taking too much vitamin d? An adult is only supposed to take 5000 a day. Do you have any negative side effects? How long did it take you to see results?

Since I am deficient my dr prescribed 10,000iu a day to bring my level up. We will recheck labs and decrease the dose when it is at a normal level. I didn’t have an infection when I went in for my labs. I had been staying away from sugar for a long time. After taking the Vit D for about a month I started adding sugar in to see if I would get an infection. And I never did. My vagina just seems way healthier all around. It’s been 2 months now and I’m totally fine. I’ve been reading on here more people that this has worked on. Good luck to you! I highly recommend having a Dr draw multiple labs. You never know what could be off and effecting your body in negative ways.
