My chiro says many of his patients with PMR have it burn out between 5 and 7 years!  If I am right I've seen it said here that about 25% of people have it go away by the 5th year but correct me if I am wrong.  In any event I mention this because my chiropractor 'blew me away' with his remark because it seemed to me that one had to be really lucky for PMR to go away AT ALL!  I've had it 3 years and keep trying to taper slowly but back it comes with a vengeance!  I'm at 7 mg of Cortisone now, (it's similar to Prednisione), and yes even with my flares up I don't have to increase it a lot but I really find it hard to believe I can ever get it much below 5.  Have any you seen or heard encouraging comments like those of my chiro, and I don't mean like one or two cases only where the PMR went away?

Dont give up i was diagnosed April 2015 within 3 days on 20 mg i was jumping for the stars , Yep it was short lived though i got to 15 no problem and then they tried to 12.5 which was a disaster and i had to go back to 15 again. This time it was half a mil per month with no problems . I'm at 10 now and due a drop Tomorrow BUT i'm not so sure i'm ready for it this month and i think i might have another month at 10 to be on the safe side. I'd rather have another month here than end up going way back up again.  You will get there slowly though  Good luck

We really have to learn the hard way don't we?.  Too bad

we can't depend on the docs to give us the best info.

A friend....is dropping 2.5 this month per her doctor

and thinks it will be largely a matter of mind over matter.

I sure hope for her sake it works for her but you and me

and the rest of us will find out that slow, slow, slow is

      the only way

Yes, it has been my understanding that it can take 5-7 years to go unles we are very lucky and it goes in 3-4 years. It seems to take longer if you do a lot of yo-yoing of doses.
