My cold sore apears on my forehead, in the same place every time. The first time I got it, it was the size of my hand, right down through my eye, and across my cheek. It was diagnosed as shingles. It appeared again,twelve months to the day. Again it was put down to shingles. On the third appearance, I was sent to a specialist, who diagnosed a cold sore. That was 16 years ago. I still get it, but now it is a lot smaller, and confined to my forehead. I find zovirax has little or no effect.

I cannot get it into my head, that given as it appears in the same place, nothing can be done either medicaly or surgically.

I dread it appearing. 'Have you bumped your head'? 'Have you burnt yourself'? Then when told it's a cold sore, the response is, 'I thought you got them on your lips'? The onlooker then never takes their eyes off the scab.

    I have this problem as well same thing people ask did you bump you head. I take valacyclovir 500mg a day most of the year I can stop taking it during cold months but when it's hot out I have to take it sun will cause a outbreak. It works well I have tried the others nothing but valacyclovir works.l

    Like many of you i get a cold sore on my head about the size of a 20c piece every year and it was very soon after i was sunburnt on my forehead. I have been getting them every year for as long as i can remember. I got so sick of them that when i could feel it coming i would squeeze it as hard as i could and blood would rush into it and that somehow stopped it getting any bigger and also stopped it itching. Creams seem to be no help at all and it just looks horrible like a have burnt myself or something. Not once have i ever had a cold sore on my lips though. Strange. I thought i was the only person in the world this happened to until i stumbled across this site! I have one as i write this and im not happy about it!

    I have. cold soars, my Dr. Prescribed valacycovir. It gets rid of it if you take it 91st first sign the outbreak.

    Everyone should try chlorohexidine! Its the same hand scub doctors use before surgery. Apply to the area once a day in the shower and rinse it off then s few times a month after that. My doctor told me this and i haven't had one since! I cant believe its gone for good! You can buy it at the chemist! Trust me it could work for you. Just get it tested as the thing on my forehead wasn't even a coldsore.
