My complex ovarian cyst did not go away. Do I need surgery?

Posted , 4 users are following.

A few months ago, I was diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst. My doctor decided to monitor it. My ultrasound showed that it was 2 cm. It is still 2 cm this week's ultrasound. I meet with my doctor on Thursday to discuss options. I had a hysterectomy in 2007 due to a fibroid and endometriosis. I am concerned that this might be cancer.

    Hi Gina,

What did your Dr say? Will you be having an operation? Sending you a hug.

Thanks, I am not sure if my doctor will recommend surgery or send me to a specialist. I go tomorrow to find out. I have had ovarian cysts before that went away, so this is new to me to have a complex one that is not disappearing. And, since they said it was a complex cyst, I think I want it all taken out just to be safe. I will update you here. I just have so many things running through my mind right now. I have been searching on the internet a lot. I saw that in older women, they usually take these out. I am 44. I also have other symptoms- pelvic pain, weight gain, breast cysts, and IBS.

Have you had any blood tests done? To rule out cancer they usually do a CA-125 test.... that will show the readings of proteins in the blood. Although it is quite commonly inaccurate as the results can be affected by other things too including whereabouts you are in your cycle.

Don't worry about having other things running though your mind....everyone seems to be here lol

I find it really useful talking to other ladies on this forum and there are loads of stories. Its kind of nice knowing you are not on your own (even if you do become the token annoying poster <-- ahem me) [:d] ahem="" me)="">

Thanks Beccy. I just had blood work done, but I am not sure if that was ordered. I guess I will find out more tomorrow afternoon.

So, I just got back from my doctor. It was a different one than my usual. She said the cyst I have now is normal. ???? However, they did not ask for a comparison of the 2 ultrasounds. So, they are going to call me with those results.

    So frustrated!!!!!
