My contraceptive implant runs out in a few days, is there any rush to have it taken out?

I am currently residing for the next 5 months in Stockholm, Sweden and my implant runs out at the end of this month. It seems like it might be a bit difficult/expensive to have it taken out in Sweden, so I was wondering if it would be okay if I left it there for the next 5 months till I go back home to the UK. I can still feel it in there pretty secure. I won't be needing any contraception too for this period. Basically just wondering if its okay to leave it in there even if its not doing anything. If anyone can help it is much appreciated

I just got my implant out this last week after having it in for 3 years. Let me tell you she had a hard time getting it out. She had to dig it out for awhile. I was only 3 days on getting mine out after it expired. I suppose your body would just get scar tissue around it the longer it's left in. Might have to get a bigger cut to get it out?

Thanks for your reply. I was able to book an appointment so mine will only be 2 days after its scheduled to come out. could you feel the implant close to the top of the skin before they removed it?

Oh ok, good. I could feel it just like I could from day one of having it put in. I have gain a lot of weight though from this damn thing so I'm thinking that didn't help the process of getting it out. Good luck with yours. I hope you have an easy procedure.
