My costochondritis could be treated - despite what GP's said

i am fit [regular life long exercise] 66 yr old woman. two years ago i did a sort of 'push up' between the backs of two straight back chairs. i experienced an almost electrical 'twanging' sensation throughout my chest, causing me to drop to my knees. not excruciating pain - THAT came over the following days - such that i sneezed and just about passed out causing family member to panic and take me to ER. There followed: Xrays, Nuclear scan and then bone density scan. the nuclear scan technician concluded i had a FRACTURED STERNUM! i was v upset - incidentally the xray analysis could not see this, but later xrays DID see two 'old' fractured vertebra ... a 40% fracture just between my shoulder blades [hhmm]. the 'sternum fracture' - they said - was due to ... 'severe osteoporosis' [re bone density scan]. again this diagnosis was pretty upsetting to me. The chest pain shifted to 'chronic' over the next 6months. GP said 'costochondritis' & suggested ibuprofen and 'get used to it'. i was unable to exercise. depressed. this is when i saw Steve NZ on YouTube vid giving an 'alternate'? explanation/description of my diagnosis. it certainly made sense. so. i went to a trusted chiropractor ... he understood and i discussed my situation further. some complication because of the osteo but he did some gentle back adjustments. and i followed up by simulating the 'back pod' position [as steve describes on his video] at home using a cushion. i did not purchase a back pod from NZ because after discussion with chiro i was not sure if it would be too hard for my osteo vertebra. when i was comfortable with that i used a foam roller to stretch out my chest/arms. i no longer have 'costochondritis' / chronic chest pain. a HUGE thank you to Steve NZ physiotherapist for his informative videos.
