My dad has klebsiela pneumonia bacteria in urine. Asymptomaic.what is the prognosis.

My father has uti..urine showing presence of klebsiela pneumonia bacterias. He is asymptomatic. What is the prognosis.

    Urine isn't sterile, so what grows in a urine culture doesn't necessarily mean it's a uropathogen.  If he is asymptomatic, then maybe the Klebsiela pneumonia that grew is just a commensal.  Since the discovery of the uromicrobiome in about 2012 (research Loyola Urinary Education and Research Collaborative LUEREC, Chicago), there is a push not to treat those who are asymptomatic.

      Thank u soo much for ur positive reply. I hav been so much worried. For last 2 mths...he has been having uti. Has taken so many antibiotics.
