My darn bladder

Hi

So this has been going on for a while and getting worse.

I pretty much have constant UTI symptoms. Including:

Peeing way above average times a day.

Regular pain in my bladder, which is sharp, aching, burning. Worse when I need to pee.

My pee also smells funny, which does concern me. (A recent occurence)

The drs sent me to a Urologist last year, who suspected I might have an overactive bladder and put me on medication - which did nothing. Now I am taking cystitis relief, which is also doing nothing. I'm scared of antibiotics, because they give me terrible thrush.

I have had UTI symptoms for years now. (I used to get a lot of cystitis, but now the symptoms have changed so it doesn't actually burn when I pee, and I do not have difficulty peeing - this makes me suspect the proplem is more to do with the upper tract).

FYI, I drink lots of water and herbal tea, I barely drink alcohol, I do not use drugs, I do not eat dairy and have cut out a lot of sugar.

Any suggestions you might have are very welcome!

    Hi Ladypinata

I am in a similar situation although the pain comes and goes for me and worsens to agony when I think I have a UTi. I was fedup of having to go to the doctors to get antibiotics so researched other things.

I found dmannose powder which is a natural sugar that is a sticky substances that passes through the bladder and urine tract taking ecloi and bad bacteria out when passing urine. I take this once to three times a day and it keeps it at bay. If I feel a Uti starting i will quickly up my dose of this and within half a day my symptoms have gone. I now manage my Uti's with this as I still get them occasionally.

I have also started taken women probotic which helps with a healthy bladder. I have not stopped completely getting Uti but i am now able to manage it on my own.

However I am also up for any points or tips that could stop me getting Uti's completely and not have to worry about it every day.

    I hope this helps

    Kind Redgards

have you looked up intersticial cystitus symptoms, lots of info on c.o.b site, typical symptoms can be frequency without pain when actually passing urine, but at other times. Usually only diagnosed by cystascope, best wishes.

I   am going to be 40 this march and have been dealing with bladder retention leakage, overactive, interstitial cystitis and bed wetting since age 19. One thing if yor urine has a funny smell you need to do a UA as it most likley is infected. As for the thrash they make a mothwash that will stop it as well as a pill it is basically a yeast infection in the mouth. interstitial cystitis can cause burning but does not always it also causes overactive as well as bad bladder spasms and can even cause spasms in your kidney. There is  pill nick named the blue bomb I forgot the real name its kinda like AZOs that numb you when peeing but it also will help stop the spasms but turns pee blue. I take soma a very strong muscile relaxant that helps too.Lots of water but also read on the interstitial cystitis forms things with acids like tomatos can set it off. Most of all don.t give up see a differant uroligest if needed. But if you do have a UI  antibiotics are a must a infection can jump from bladder to kidneys fast and then it wil go to blood stream. A have had about 15-20 blood infections all from the bladder and it sucks your whole body hurts Iv  once it went from blood to infect my heart I spent 10 days in ICU. Also have them check if you are retaining after you empty if so self cathing just once a day will hep stop the infections. I have done it every nite before bed since I was 24 and it helped a bunch. Ists not painful at all the fist week is a bit discomfortible but then youre body gets use to it. I hope this helps chin up and don't give up
