My daughter is being diagnosed with Addisons, she runs cross country, I don't know how to tell her

My 18 year old daughter has been going to Dr. for over 2 years now with multiple health issues,  was diagnosed with POTS syndrome, but I don't believe she had it.  She has gluten and diary allergies  (we have other kids with celiac,  one of whom also is type 1 diabetic)  and nothing helps.  I finally paid out of pocket for a nurse practitioner that focuses on auto immune disease and had a huge panel done on her.   They called that she needed to come in immidiately but she had left that day for spring break with a freind.  They coudn't tell me much because of hippa,  but i've done my study and know her symptoms are Addisons.  I have thought this for over a year,  but her pediatrician (before she turned 18)  and others wouldn't listen.  The Nurse Practitioner told me she has EXTREMELY low blood sugars (according to A1C)  but again b/c of hippa couldn't tell me exact numbers,  but wanted me to call my daughter and tell her to eat every 2 hours and to increase her sodium.  I asked if she should come home and they said she should be ok,  but if she felt sick at all to call them.  She feels ok.   Ididn't tell her what they suspect because I don't want her stressed,  I have a feeling life as she knows it is forever changed.  I have a son who has type 1 for 14 years.  I KNOW what a medical diagnosis does to your family.  I'm not sleeping.  I'm so upset!   Ok,  so now I'm done venting...here is my question....she has major scholership to run x-country and track.  She is a 4.0 student planning to go pre-med at college next year.   Is this going to be possible?  She struggle SO HARD to stay up on running.  She is slowly getting worse in her running b/c of health anyway,  but its her passion.   I'm so scared this will send her into a deep depression!  (she seems depressed anyway b/c she never feels well)  Is school going to be possible?  I of coarse have been reading everything I can about Addisons and its not very encouraging!

Has your daughter had any tests to check her cortisol levels? How is her ACTH level, is it high or low? The symptoms of adrenal insufficiency are: malaise, lassitude, fatigue, weakness, anorexia, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, hypo tension, hypoglycemia, hypothermia, hyperkalemia and hyper pigmentation (with Addison's).  I personally  do not think she could run if she had adrenal insufficiency or Addison's disease.

What was the huge panel of tests  your daughter had?

It is not easy to diagnose Addison's. Before she takes any steroids (hc, predninsone) , she should have the relevant tests to verify if she has Addison's disease (chronic, autoimmune) or adrenal insufficiency. The latest if treated for a few months, she'll recover from it.
