My doctor told me I have HSV-1

I last month i went to my doctor and told her about some issues i was having. And today i got a call about my lab results. She told me that everything came back negative but i was only positive for HSV-1 simplex. I told her that i haven't been getting any cold sores and she told me that its good that I haven't and that means my body is fighting off the virus. But now i went back to look to look at my results online. Can somebody please explain this?

It looks like your hiv results are negative your Hsv 2 is negative & your Hsv1 is a high positive possibly an older infection from childhood the cold sores you get

if you ever had a coldsore on your lip even if it was just one and never again that would be from hsv 1 which is why yours is positive

i had my first cold sore when i was 15 and i never even been sexual active then. I had a kiss which was months before and around christmas time i get it. And why didnt my doc say something years ago when they was always drawing my blood. I am sorry, I'm just really confused and depressed right now. And my doctor told me yesterday that i dont need any treatment or medication

you dont half the world has hsv 1 dont be depressed about it. You dont need any medicine especially since you rarely get cold sores.

Can i ask where you are based and why they tested for HSV1 ?
I am going through similar issues and had lots of tests and HSV1 came back positive. I never knew i had it. Never had coldsores.
Like the other person commented you are negative for hiv and hsv2 and high positive for hsv1. Some research indicates as it is high it is an old infection, but nothing firm to back it up.
Apparently 70% of global population have hsv1 and most do not know?

I told my doctor about some little bumps on my vagina and my doctor checked it out and said it was nothing. But she wanted some blood work done just in case it was something else.

they shouldnt really test like that, but what do i know. Now you are just questioning it and unsure where you are.
But yeah could be from one minor coldsore. You may never know.

So, HSV-1 is not limited to cold sores. You could also have Genital HSV-1. Those who do have it often times so not know because outbreaks are far fewer and less severe than Genital HSV-2.

if you have had coldsores before then that explains why you have HSV1. I wouldnt look any further in to it than that. It is super common, so wont worry. Its like chickenpox i guess (which is a herpes virus), which most people have been exposed too.
