Finally some good News!!! On March 25,2016 My gFr was 69,I just took another test July 19,2016 and my gFr has gone up to 77,I did not think this was possible!I know now.I did hear that gFr could rise in stages 4 and 5 but stage two I was not aware of.I don't know if I should celebrate! or is this normal?Anyway it has to mean something?I have to meet with my kidney specialist this Monday.I will see what he says,I hope I can raise it even more!

we lose approx 2% function as a normal part of aging, so a 63 year old person ?who has a eGFR of 77 would be have perfect kidney function for their age.
?........ but the thing to always remember is that the 'e' in 'eGFR' stands for ESTIMATED it is not an exact science and a fluctuation of 8 is within the 10% error margian, and rather negligable, maybe you ate less protein before the blood test which effects creatine levels

Well I haven't really cut back on eating protein.I eat baked chicken without the skin and fish and vegetables and fruit.I also weighed,252 lb now I'm down to 238,and still losing weight.I exercise two to 3x a week lifting weights and also I started jogging, and doing ab workouts 3 to 4 x a week.I see my kidney specialist Monday. I will ask him about the error margin.I feel great and I will continue to strive to raise my( Egfr).Im also 40 yrs old.I am African American as well.

@sureshtvl I'm not sure I can answer your question with absolute knowledge about improving (egfr).I can tell you that I made drastic lifestyle changes, diet ,exercise and I drink water every day and also I have lost about 14lb.In the process.
