    Hi,

Could it be a response to the meds you are taking. My skin was very sensitive and I wondered if it was the blood thinners. Also your skin is very stretched so it could be that

Medication or solutions put on your skin for prep for surgery. Since the rest of your skin not itching. call your surgeon.

I use benadryl for itchingand allergic reactions. But if you are itching all over call your doctor

That's annoying, for sure, Caroline! You might try a lotion with a higher oil content, and that might do the trick.

Try E45 Itch Relief cream - it's very good.

Be careful with E45 itch cream as it has cortisone in it which is obviously a steroid and I was told while bone is healing you shouldn't use it.

Plain E45 lathered on and allowed to soak in is fine, its because skin is so dry and you maybe have fluid buildup under skin.

You can of course ask your own GP he may have a different view on it.

First, is it red or swollen. Or a different color. Have you taken your first shower? 1 you can take Benadryl. Second don't just use any lotion, make sure it's die free, and fragrance free. Use corizone first and good lotion on top. During surgery they use a very harsh antibacterial wash that can make it itchy as well. That's why the shower, last call your doctor. Hope that helps.

Solowflyer,  Yes, I have taken my first shower.  It is swollen and bruised by the incision area.  I think my lotion is die and fragrance free, but I will have to check.  Thanks for the advice.  smile

I was the same Caroline and it drives you mad I did take Antihystermine tablets . If you get piriton they will make you drowsy with other medication but you can get some that aren't drowsy hope this helps.

The E45 Itch Relief I've got doesn't have any steroid in it so is OK to use. It's the stuff you can get in any chemist and some supermarkets.

I have never heard of E45 cream.  Where do I get it?
