My Essential Tremor will worsen?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello everyone! I am 23 years old male, and I've been diagnosed with Essential Tremor 4 years ago. Fortunately my hand tremor very-very mild and it does not bother me. Every ET will worsening over time, or mine can be stay mild throughout life?

Thanks!

Best Regards!

It's very variable, Vuku. I doubt anyone can give you an answer. Other parts of the body may become involved; other hand and head are common, but who knows?

ET often runs in families so maybe you could talk to older relatives?

Thanks ur fast answer! Both of hands affected, and a little bit the tongue. These are very mild, nobody notices. There is nobody in the family who has ET.  Exist non-progressive form of ET?

      Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I have one more question.

Are you sure my head will affected too? Or not necessarily?

Not necessarily but, as I said, it is quite common.

      Thank you for the answers!

Every ET are different? So whats the progression rate? Everyone will get disability sooner or later, or the progression can stop at a moderate form? Or can be stay mild throughout life?

      Thanks!

My background is this- Vuku.  Had some difficulty putting on lipstick at 19 but otherwise ok.  Hand and head started shaking around 45.  Head shaking more at 55.  Continually worsening for next 20 years and on increasing meds.  Essential tremor is familial in my case.  Females on mother's side all had it.  My son exhibits some tremor (not major at 50).  Sister has it like me.

So as you can see it took a long time for E.T. to worsen but now at 75 have difficulty typing and holding cup of coffee.  There's really no way to predict what will happen with you.  There are good solutions out there if worsens.  It took me a long time to explain to people why I was shaking but now I just tell it like it is. (people thought I was saying no to questions when I was saying yes) No one cares and in fact if I spill coffee friends just help me clean it up and laugh with me.  Take it as it comes, stay close to a specialist in essential tremor and try to not worry about it.  From what I understand it won't kill you.

Dear marcia! I appreciate your answer!

I understand that no one can predict that what will happen with me, but I just one to know that is it possible to remains relatively mild or definitely will worse over time?
