My experience was really out of the blue. I had blood tests for fertility and was called in to gp and told my T4 was 56! I hadn't felt right for few months, but had no idea it was this. The week afterwards, I got palpitations, very strong heart beat and muscle weakness. I could hardly get my words out at one point. Was off for a week and then back to work. The antibodies were positive and I have graves. Difficult to accept at first.

I am active and like sport, but am finding if I do sport I feel very rough for 5 days after. Frustrating.

    Hi

I am on my first week of carbimazole. How long before your heart settles down. and how long was it before you could return to normal exercise. I have missed my first every skiiing holiday because of it -- what timing

Hi Linda, I'm 50 and my thyroid became over active in September last year. I was put on Carbimazole (20mg/day) in mid December and it took about a month before my heart settled down and I started cooling off. I've also started putting on some of the weight I lost and one weird thing - I've lost nearly all of my underarm hair - has anyone else noticed this? Overall I feel alot better - hope you will in due course. smile

    Hi Annie T

I was diagnosed a month ago after a blood test confirmed I had overactive thyroid. Was put on Cabimazole (20mg/day) to start with until I see how my treatment will continue once I'm seen at hospital in 3 weeks time. I too have noticed that my underarm hair now takes a lot longer before it grows back in after shaving. Does anyone know why this is?

Hi. I have just been diagnosed with Graves. Sweating all day and night - no energy - no sleep - palpatations and muscle weakness in my legs. I have been taking Carbimazole 40mg daily for 8 days now. Can anyone tell me how long it will be before I start to feel at least a little bit better?
