My experience with PF is over.

I’ll try to give the cliff notes on my experience with pf.

Tried to baby my meniscus tear and got off the floor after excercising and put too much pressure on my left foot.

Terrible pain, limping on left foot - felt like bad bruise on heel and medial side of foot.

Went to podiatrist who threw me in warm foot baths (no clue why) and did a 2 minute horrible ultrasound. (Take it easy the piece is metal and my foot is bone, hello!) They gave me generic orthothics which we’re crazy high in the arch and which only caused me more pain! Tossed those suckers.

Mri ordered and showed posterior tibial tendonitis .

. Podiatrist said report wrong and it’s plantar fascitis since pain in heel. Ordered custom orthothics (charged $250 instead of $500 but who needs to know - finally something going my way)

So I thought. Realized the left arch in my foot had dropped! Two days later right arch drops. Holy mother of pain!

Fed up with pain.. saw foot surgeon who said no hot baths they should be ice baths. What!!! GRrr!!!

Sent me to physical therapy. Most part really helpful but massages at first were excruciating!

One million changes in shoes -spent easily $900 in creams, sneakers, sandals, Tylenol, magic beans wink

Read internet like crazy.. add in barefoot foot strengthening , epsom salt baths, stopped using roller- only aggravated foot more.)

Started magnesium, vit C, vitD, glucosamine, fish oil(when I was daring) and turmeric.

Custom orthos in- life savers! Def helping feet.

Added in rest when possible. Kept off any lunges ,squats, anything heavy on feet. Still had to work on my feet (boo)

Got merrells sneakers- life savers #2! Great support.

Realized the ppt inflammation prob did cause my arches to drop.

Cortisone shot in foot. Helped for 3 months but wouldnt do twice bc can degrade tissue.

Rested.

6 months later... repeated mri! Ptt shows normal. PF gone. What!! Holy miracle!!

Some residual pain if I stand for long time or walk really far. Foot surgeon said it’s a result of flat foot and some minor arthritis( sucks at 45).

All and all he said most of what I had resolved and to just take Tylenol or use a brace if I’m doing a lot of walking.

The End.. I hope!!

I know it sucks, I refuse to go overboard spending money, I have the insets hard ones in my trainers that helps, I rub painkilling cream on it if sore, I only walk about 5 to 10 mins about 4 days a week now, have to keep an eye on my weight, the hot and cold treatment works if in a lot of pain, ie cold bag of peas, followed by hot water bottle on foot wrapped in a teatowel, then finish with the frozen bag of peas, I have the tip toe exercises I do everyday also stretch the foot for 20 seconds against the walls, physio have quite a few exercises that can help.  I have had it so bad I hobbled around the house for 2 weeks it horrible pain on my arch, I literally couldn't put my foot flat on the floor, going downstairs was very painful, a, so I'm cautious now on any form of exercise, as all it does   is aggreviate it, fortunately I'm retired.

Aberzerk, I am a retired physician and plantar fasciitis patient.  I got plantar fasciitis around February 2016.  After about four months, it completely resolved.

Here's what I think.  Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the attachment of the plantar fascia to the heel bone, and/or some minimal tearing of the plantar fascia - just a few fibers - that results, naturally, in inflammation . . .   like a "pulled muscle."   Inflammation hurts until it heals and resolves.  So what's so difficult about curing P.F.?  Well we walk on it!!!  Let's say we take 5000 steps a day.  Imagine inflammation of your elbow, (i.e. tennis elbow).  Imagine taking your sore "tennis elbow" and wacking it against the wall, 5000 times a day.  Think it would heal quickly?  I don't either.

So my cure for plantar fasciitis is cushion, cushion and cushion!!!  That's right - cushion the heel.  Here's what I did.  First, I wore the plantar fasciitis "relief bridge" gel-heel innersole in my shoes - that I got at Walgreen's for about $11.  Make sure your innersoles are soft and preferably made of gel.  (I plan to use mine indefinitely in my shoes.)  Then I wore a pair (usually) of nice thickish sox.  On my heel I wore fasciitis therapy wrap padded supports that I got on the internet for about $13.  (I don't wear them any more.)  So when I had my PF, under my heels I had 3 cushion layers.  I wore this about 24 hours a day - except when in the shower or swimming.  And after about 4 months, the PF was totally gone.  And I would suggest to you, have patience, not surgery.

Aberzerk, that's what I think.  I hope this helps you and the many other sufferers of plantar fasciitis.  Good Luck to you, doknabox/JerryR
