my experience with sertraline

HI THERE

I was just surfing for sites about anti-depressants. Sertaline is a medication i have tried from a long list of many.Ihave to say,i do feel much better than with other meds, but im not fully recoverd from my depression. It does take a while to kick in,despite what the docs say,but i feel it is worth the wait. The only long term side effect i have is not being able to sleep very well, but with the brain not switching off problem,it will help that in time. Ive been suffering depression for 14 years, and sertaline is by far the best meds so far...........

Be strong,they do work.

cheers j

Hello! That is so good to hear someone say something positive about sertraline...I was beginning to worry they might not suit me. Its not much fun switching meds, as I'm sure you will know!!

Have your sleep patterns imporved at all? I am just asking because my doctor prescribed me sertralkine in a bid to help me sleep as I haven't properly for months but it doesn't seem to have helped yet.

    Hello there,

I was interested to find this site about experiences with Sertraline and I think I can say that after taking Sertraline for about 8 weeks now, it definitely has positive benefits, even though there are a few minor drawbacks, as with most medication, but I would say that these are offset by how much better I feel generally. This is the first time I have taken anti-depressants as I have resisted taking them for years, believing I should be able to cope by myself, but finally I realised that I did need help. The main thing I have noticed is that the anxiety I used to suffer from has lessened considerably. It's not that I don't get anxious about things, but I am more able now to be rational and deal with it rather than just let it completely take me over.

Hope this helps and feel free to get in touch if you wish to discuss any further issues!

Hi there. I have been on sertraline for about two and a half weeks. Before that I was not on anything for about a year but previously I have been on prozac, seroxat and citalopram. I am still feeling intense anxiety, cant sleep more than a couple of hours a night and no appetite. The strange thing is some days i feel much better, almost back to normal andthen I will feel terrible again. Also sexual problems. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow and wonder if i should tell her they are not working and i want to come off them or should i stick it out a bit lonnger. I just want to stop feeling this pain.
