Today my father's cardiologist suggests that he should done an Angiogram and I m kind of scared seeing this whole risk factors on other sites. I need an opinion of someone who had a angiogram? Did you face any of those risks,? Are there any side effects because in some websites people commented that there wasn't able to walk.?

After Procedure of the Angiogra?

p.s. Sry for my english if it's not right:

( My father had a heart attack back in 2003 and was on medications and close tests with his cardiologist ever since)

Have had two angiograms with no problems at all but could not comment on your father as do not know of any potential problems he may have. Good luck

Did he not have an angiogram in 2003 ?

They have to warn you of every unlikely possible event but it is a very safe procedure that he needs to have  for a good diagnosis. If they find a problem during it they can fit a stent or do a balloon ablation.

no, back then my father's Exercise ECG was normal and his heart attack caused by a blood clot. (I was 10 yrs old, dnt remember that much.) I think that is why they didn't go for a Angiogram.

P.S.S. is a heart attack a possibility just after a Angiogram? because I read a forum and someone commented that he had a mild heart attack, after the angiogram when the doctors tried to elevate his bed? ????

All the bad things are very unlikely. They cath lab where it is done has everything needed for any problem that may occur. As a Cardio said to me 'You are the safest place in the word"

If he gets a good one it is just a ten minute procedure. With the first one I had I couldn't see the screen and just felt him pushing the catheter into my groin and then he walked away to look at the screen. I called out when are you going to start and he turned the screen round and said it's done you can watch the action replay.

Now they often go in through the wrist which I think is better as they just need to put a clamp round your wrist for a couple of hours after and there is less bruising.

He will do fine, I have had 2 angiograms 13 years apart after heart attacks.  After the first one in 1996, my groin hurt where the procedure was done, and it was difficult for me to stand up straight and walk the next morning, because I had a considerable hematoma (bruise), but there were no complications as a result of this hematoma.  I went home and followed up with my cardiologist a month later.

When I had the second one in 2010, there were no post procedure issues, I did just fine.  I also was informed both times that my arteries were clear.  My heart attacks were caused by spasms of the arteries, they can still cause damage, because no or a very diminished flow of blood is traveling through those arteries when they are in spasm.  I have some degree of heart failure today, but I am still able to do things, but I have to rest frequently, because I have a "tired" easily fatigued heart.  Please try not to worry, your father will do all right.

P.P.S :: What are preparation for the procedure?

Did they not give him any instructions. Depends on time of day if he can eat drink before hand.

Come Wednesday evening you will wonder why you were worried about the procedure. I presume that you are more concerned about it than he is. That is why I always like to go to things like that on my own.

I was told to not consume food or drink 12 hours before the procedure, and was told to shower before coming to the hospital.  I've never had the newer procedure where they access your artery through your wrist, but I'm a small boned person, thus they will probably always use the femoral artery approach.  I wish your dad the best with his test on Wednesday, I'm sure he

      will do just fine.

I was told to be there at 7.45 am. There were emergencies and I was not taken in until 5pm with a rumbling tum.

The Day Surgery unit was about to close by the time I was finished so I was put into a cardio ward for my recovery time. Dinner had been served so I ended up with a sandwich.
