My female genital (vagina) is itching a lot during and after period. What is wrong with me?

hello all,

I have never been in a sexual intercourse or was ever pregnant before. I am 17 years old and recently finished my period. During my period, my female part (under) was (severe) itching a lot but it wasn't constant. After I wash my private part, the itching stopped or lessen. But it comes back again. Sometimes when I urinate it burns and sometime it doesn't burn (just normal). I realize when i do urinate, a white thing comes out as well.

I am worry that I have STD or HIV because of from toilet seat. Do I have BV? Is it contagious? What do I do?

If you have never had intercourse you are not at risk for an STD/STI, but women that have not had sex can have BV. However, the symptoms you described are consistent with a vaginal yeast infection. You can make an appointment with a doctor to be sure and get a prescription or you can buy over the counter anti-fungal treatment at your local pharmacy. Over the counter treatment does not require a prescription, is inexpensive and safe. They usually range from 1-day to 7-day treatment kits, I usually buy the 3-day kit. Inside the package there are instructions on how to use the medication. Most packages include the medication that is applied inside the vagina with a plunger which will stop the infection and there may also be a small tube of medication that can be applied externally to treat the itching. Be sure to read the instructions, do not use if it contains anything you know you are allergic to and finish all of the medication even if you start to feel better. I recommend using this medication before bed and a panty liner the next day because some of the medication may leak out. I hope you start feeling better soon.
