Hi. You could check under her tongue.

If its digital thats what I have always done. Some people put under the arm. Im not sure how accurate that is. Im not a doctor or nurse. If she has been caughing for two weeks she should be seeing her doctor or an urgent care if her fever is high. Definately if shes been caughing for a couple of weeks. If her chest is making sounds, it could be an upper respatory issue. Thats quite a while for a 5 yr old to have a caugh and possible fever. I think she should be checked out by a doctor. Again Im not a doctor or nurse but I am a mom and grandma and thats what I would do.

    God bless you,

Hello Claire, you should take your little girl to the doctor, or at the very least, your local pharmacy.  The pharmacist will take her temperature for you & show you how to do it.

2 weeks is a long time for a child to have a fever.

    Hi claire,

The hot weather doesn't help with things and the cough could be pollen/allergen related and the headache and feeling sick from the heat and dehydration. If she has a fever she would probably be listless/not energetic and feel hot to the touch or look redder.

I know it's easier said but try not to worry. As Kirsty says, you can ask at a pharmacy what they think before/instead of a doctor.
