My foot really hurts after a sprain, is it broken?

Hey! So here's the deal, I slipped a few days ago and i kind of stepped the wrong way, I think I sprained my foot - I didn't think it was broken. It was swollen for a few days but I was able to walk, pain wasn't unbearable. This was happening around five days ago. It started getting better as in the bruises started fading and it wasn't as swollen anymore. However, about two hours ago I went downstairs and all of a sudden my foot started hurting really bad and I couldn't walk at all. There has been little progress as in I still can't step on it. I have to mention I did walk around last few days but I didn't go outside.

Is it possible that it's just the sprain and it isn't broken? I'm going to the hospital tomorrow morning BUT I'm really stressed because I am moving on the 18th and I really can't have a broken foot because I'll be very busy with my new job.

    HI Christine ,

When you sprain your ankle typically depending on how bad a fall or trip or accident you had you should of iced it and elevated it for a few days. It will bruise and then start to heal.

There are a few grades of sprains you could have gotten. You probably haven't given it enough time to heal. And they do take quite a while to heal if its a grade 2 or 3 .... I"m not an expert but I would do the RICE method and see how it goes.

    Good luck! ****
