My fundoplication story

I had my fundoplication 2 weeks ago. The first week was a breeze but since I've started eating some solid food I've had a lot of back and chest pain. My surgeon said this was normal since I'm thin and also had a large hernia. Can anyone provide some details with respect to their surgery. Please and thank you

    Hi there

I had my fundoplication and h/hernia done a year today!  I was the same and stayed on basically a soup diet for the first few months, it was not easy I have to admit, I could only eat small amounts and this has got better.  One of the side effects for me was the inability to belch so I pass wind a lot more from the other end - not so great.  All in all I don't regret it as I had permanent reflux before and had bad gastritis all the time which made my quality of life very poor, I am 59.

I do hope you keep improving and give yourself plenty of time, all the very best and keep in touch.

Hi Joanna17875, is there a reason you did the nissen fundiplication verse's, the lynx. I'm 46, and thinking about doing the surgery. I don't know which one I will benefit more from. Can you shed some light on my issue. Thank you

      Hello,

I really didn't get a choice, the surgeon I chose to go with made the decision! I know this sounds as if I am not informed but I was not aware of the Lynx?!! Sorry I can't be of more help.

      Best regards
