My GA

Posted ,

Hi there

I am happy to have found this forum. I am suffering with GA for 2 years now. I thought I would share my experience here. If it is helpful to anyone, great!

I am a 54 year old female, hypothyroid, anxiety(mild), lots of stress, and I believe I am finally exiting menopause after 10 years.

I developed a spot on my inner wrist two years ago. I was at my friends house, in the country. I live in rural Ireland. Ringworm is part of life in Ireland. After it spreading like mad, all over my legs and fore arms, I went to the doc. Diagnosed with Ringworm. I was on Terbasil for about a year, on and off. And it changed nothing. and the Doc continued to treat as ringworm. All sorts of powders and creams as well. I stopped the Terbasil and just let it run its course. GA eventually went away. tried to come back, went away, came back a little. went away.

So it was gone for like 5 months, then in May 2021, a spot on my inner wrist appeared. And in a couple of weeks it took off. I knew there was no point in going to doc. I went to the herbalist. Walked in, she looked at my leg and said that is a type of eczema.(god bless, she was closer than the doc in terms of diagnosis). she gave me herbal tea she made up there and a type of silica based powder to mix with this herbal oil to apply to spots. anyway, magic. I needed to be diligent though with the instruction. and no alcohol! no wine!

So, it left, and I traveled to states to visit family. (stress) (family). Within oh a week I was having the GA on my legs. I did use cider vinegar to choke it. and that does work. GA does not like cider vinegar. get good organic cider vinegar with the mother. if you are inflamed with itch, soak whatever and wrap it on the area. leave it there. it will take the itch away immediately, and go away. For me it did anyway.

I went to a Dermatologist in states. (medical care in Ireland is a bit different if you do not have private health care and being recommended to a specialist while on the states health care system can take some time). I paid cash for the diagnosis. walked in, dermatologist took a look at my sore/spots and informed me that I have Grannuloma Annulare. never heard of it. The dermatologist gave a treatment of drinking Oolong Tea- 3-4 times a day along with applying triamcinolone on spots. I went with cider vinegar and oolong tea. GA does not like oolong tea. The treatment went further on-if you would like to know more just let me know. cause i did not follow it. but kept it for future reference.

The GA did go away. until about a week ago. stress. gluten. alcohol.

Stress is the number one cause of the majority of my medical issues. I found a very good hypnotherapist that worked with me on my stress and anxiety. The visits with the therapist were very effective for my anxiety.

Gluten. If you are hypothyroid-gluten is not a good idea. and most health practitioners will tell you gluten is not great for any sort of autoimmune disorder.

I have been eating gluten for the past two weeks. not a lot, but enough. my situation presently makes eating gluten easier. so, i am inflamed again on my legs. and forearms. This morning, after waking up with a burning itch on my legs, with about 7 good sized rings with surrounding smaller ones, I took a cloth soaked it in apple cider vinegar wrapped it around my leg-calf-and let it sit for as long as i could. no more itch and the welts have gone way down.

Diet is everything. that is my experience. I used to be able to eat anything, anytime, anywhere. and after having serious food poisoning in 2014, I have learned that my diet is key to my over all well being. no dairy, no wheat, no refined sugar, meat once a week, loads of fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, etc. If i veer off of this at anytime, I will feel it in one way or another; acid reflux, depression, weight gain, thyroid brain fog.

so, i relate this current flare up to stress, eating gluten and washing the gluten down with wine. so no more. will see how i get on. and if i can at some point go to the herbalist for her tea and ointment i will.

Today I did manage to find MSM at the local healthfood shop. So, after reading quite a few of the posts on this forum, I bought MSM. and will give this a good try.

2 things that I would quit if I had GA: gluten and dairy.

2 things that I would include: cider vinegar and vegan/vegetarian diet.
