My Girlfriend started running again recently and now has excruciating leg pain

So my girlfriend started running again recently after not running for around 2 hours. She ran on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday she felt a little pain in her lower leg but nothing serious.

The the week later on the next Friday, she suddenly got excruciating pain in one area of her inside of her left lower leg, so we took her to A&E. The Doctor we saw literally just poked her leg where she said it hurt and made sure her toes weren't numb we must have been in there 30 seconds. He sent us home saying it is Soft Tissue Damage and should get better with rest and ice.

We have been resting it and applying ice since Friday, it is now Monday. And she says the pain is getting gradually worse.

Does anyone have any advice on what it could be?

The Doc is very probably right, starting running after two years is actually like never having run before, so what she should have done is spent a few weeks building up to it with stretching and a short run and build up over a few weeks, two hours is way to much to start off
