That's why I'm here. My GP says it won't make any difference but I disagree

GP? Have you been to skin specialist?
Balanitis is a wide term used for any kind of irritation or infection on glans, so it is not a disease just a wide term for something that might be for example fungal, bacterial infection, allergy to some products, etc.
This looks pretty much like fungal infection to me, perhaps your treatment was not suitable for it or it was too short.
Id recommend going to dermatologist for evaluation. Perhaps even do swab test.

Iv been twice as its reoccurring. Last time he said it was thrush and gave me anti fungal cream. It's not worked anymore than time itself. Now back again it is sore. I am a clean person, washing daily Inc under foreskin nor do I touch with dirty hands ect. Only pattern I see if it occurs after sex or masterbation.
It's now that sore I'm like do I go for a circumsised penis or try again.....

So you have seen dermatologist? Have you done swab test? In such cases it is best to do a swab test to see if it is maybe bacteria that is causing this, since antifungal cream wont work there at all, it will make symptoms disappear for few days and reappear again.

What you have is a persistent skin irritation - what you have been trying so far is not getting at the actual cause. I'm not sure if you are sexually active, perhaps you are getting a reoccurrence of the infection from a partner?
What you need to do is to fins a way of returning the severe irritation to a natural state - you say about washing and being a clean person. But are you using soap or shower gel and suchlike to clean the head and foreskin area? Then, just as important is fully drying the skin carefully.
The problem issue is that once you have severely irritated skin like this unless you put the correct set of circumstances in place this will always remain as it is now!
I wonder if a Doctor has tried a combined Steroid with antibacterial and anti-fungal properties (I think this is called Trimovate) - but as Mikael suggests, you could really do with seeing a Dermatologist that deals with Genital Skin Disorders. (Ask at a Sexual Health or GUM Clinic to be referred to one)
I would certainly want to see a Dermatology Specialist before going to the drastic measure of being circumcised. Essentially, you could get circumcised and the potential skin condition that has caused this in the first place will still remain - only, you will get some of the additional issues and risks that goes with being circumcised ...... !!!

Thanks for your reply. Very useful. Being a detective that I am I have tried to look for patterns ect including no masterbation and no sex yet it has came back again. Today for example inside of boxershorts had a light green discharge and in shower pulling foreskin back was very painful but I need to do this to a. Clean with only water and b. Apply the cream once all dried again. I have been prescribed clotrimazole so trying this again but last time I think time healed it rather than this cream.

wow wow green discharge is never good. Please visit dermatologist or urologist and be sure to tell them of all symptoms you are experiencing. I really dont want to scare you but as person that suffered hell with male private parts, please do visit specialists and not GP.
Reason why I said to do swab test is because I had issue with changes on foreskin and glans that were diagnosed as fungal infection... using canesten only made my skin symptoms disappear for a few days and return worse than they were, in the end i did swab test and found i had staphylococus aureus... after like 5 days of antibiotics and some cream for irritation everything was fine.
So please do consult specialists and do appropriate tests before you decide to get your skin cut off, since removing skin might not solve your problem in the end. Cases like this are usually easy to treat with proper treatment.

What Mike is telling you is true. That green discharge is some kind of infection. PLEASE PLEASE go to a doctor and get that checked. You don't need that to get any worse. Clean with only warm water and pat try do not rub
Let us know when you get this straightened out
Best of luck....You do not need to go through this pain.......Ken

Hi, I am suffering from a similar issue. My GP told me I have fungal balanitis but it doesn't seem to be resolving, even with Fluconazole. I have taken two oral doses and it just keeps coming back within a few days. I am beginning to think it might be bacterial. Could you advise how you managed to get a swab? That's the only way I'm going to find out for sure but I cant seem to find anyone offering it. Many thanks.

as a guy who has been circumcised since birth i strongly recommend never to get it done, unless its very serious.
from the pics i dont know what it could be but it doesnt look like u have much of an issue maybe a little redness or sensitivity on your glans.
but dont get circumcised whatever u do.

How can you say there is not much of a issue. He look like he is in a lot of pain and if that is the only way to help him he need to do it.
I am very glad that I was circumcised ( 1955 ) and so were my sons before they left the hospital. One in 1982 and one in 1985. My father was also circumcised in 1917
It is up to the family what is done.
This discussion has been going on for years and will go on after we are both dead and gone
Have a great day....Ken
