My Haemorrhoidectomy journey

Background: I am in the UK and have suffered with piles for a long time. At one point I had them injected but it made zero difference. the pain and bleeding after that put me off taking any further action. Plus a healthy dose of embarrassment. The final straw was a fortnight of heavy bleeding after going to the loo. I had suffered with bleeding before to the point of using a sanitary pad as a precaution. But the fortnight of heavy bleeding took it to a new level and really scared me. I made an appointment with my GP who referred me to the hospital. I had a colonoscopy and the after effects of the bowel prep left me in a lot of pain. Fortunately they didn't find anything sinister, but i did have four large prolapsed internal piles. I was referred to the Colorectal Surgeon and told that I would either have banding or a Haemorrhoidectomy.
Day zero i was booked in for the afternoon. came round from the surgery with slight discomfort. Was very sick after the obligatory toast and water. i was discharged home about three hours after the op with painkillers and seven days of Metronidazole. My partner had already got me some Lactulose. i was quite fuzzy headed and the pain level was about a five overnight.

Day one
i forgot to mention that i had four internal piles removed. The wounds were stitched.I woke and as the day wore on the pain intensified along with the dread of going to the toilet. By mid afternoon even with painkillers the pain was intense. That was nothing to what was to come. I went to the toilet and OMG it was like someone had stuck barbed wire up me. I bled, but that stopped quite quickly. What didn't was the agonising pain. The pain radiated right up to my pubic bone it was a combination of intense pain and a burning sensation. I jumped in the shower to clean myself. Then soaked in the bath . I must have had six baths that day to soothe me. Even in the middle of the night. The painkillers didnt do a lot, but did take the edge off
